Suna's Stocking Cap

I made myself a stocking cap because sometimes I'm just too cold at bedtime, but my cutie patootie 6-year-old keeps stealing it.  So of course I had to make her one for herself.
This is a SUPER easy pattern!

Holding two strands fingering weight and using sz 5 needles:

CO 96 sts, join in the round. Work 2x2 rib for 1.5"
Next round: slip knit stitches purlwise, purl the purl stitches

Knit around until piece reaches about 5" from cast on edge.

Knit around, adding stitch markers every 12 stitches. Make sure that the beginning of round stitch marker is unique.

R1: *k2tog, k to next marker* around
R2-9: k all sts

Repeat until only 8 sts remain on needles, changing to dpns when needed. K one more round and then pull the tail through the 8 stitches and weave in ends.

Of course, Su wanted a big, fat, pink pom pom on the end, so that is always an option.

Feel free to make, gift, and sell from this pattern, but please give me credit for the pattern. I'd love for you to post it on Ravelry! Enjoy!
